한국미생물·생명공학회에서 ‘The Rise of the Human Microbiome Therapeutics Industry in Korea’ 라는 주제로 2021년 11월 25일(목)에 특별 워크샵을 개최하여 성황리에 마무리 되었습니다.

휴먼 마이크로바이옴이 주요 만성 질환들의 발병과 진행에 깊이 관여한다는 임상 데이터와 연구 결과가 쌓여가며, 치료의 대상으로서 휴먼 마이크로바이옴의 중요성이 조명을 받고 있습니다. 세계는 microbiome therapeutics의 개발을 위한 경쟁에 돌입하였으며, 그 시장은 2027년에는 15억 달러에 이를 것으로 추정됩니다. 이번 특별 워크샵을 통해 국내 산업계의 microbiome therapeutics 연구개발 동향을 살펴보고, 앞으로의 발전 방향에 대해 논의하는 자리를 가졌습니다.

첫 번째 세션은 ‘Microbiome Therapeutics-The overview’로 고려대학교 김희남 교수(Current Status of the Microbiome Therapeutics Development in the World), 분당서울대학교병원 이동호 교수(Big Bang of Medicine: Clinical Usefulness of Gut Microbiome and NGP (Next Generation Probiotics)), 한국연구재단 차세대바이오단 오민규 단장(Microbiome R&D Program in National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF))의 발표가 있었습니다.
두 번째 세션은 ‘Microbiome Therapeutics- The IndustryⅠ’로 이뮤노바이옴(주) 임신혁 대표(Defining and Application of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients from Microbiota for Cancer and Inflammatory Disorders), 국민바이오(주) 성문희 대표(R&BD of Postbiotics Using Microbial Metabolites Produced by GRAS Fermented Food Microorganisms), ㈜hy 이동은 책임연구원(Effect of Probiotics HY7714 on UVB-induced Photoaging and Intestinal Health)의 발표가 있었습니다.
세 번째 세션은 ‘Microbiome Therapeutics-The Industry Ⅱ’로 일동제약(주) 김태윤 팀장(Specific Properties of Multiple Strains Probiotics (ID-JPL934): Relevance and Benefits for the Human), CJ 제일제당(주) 이백석 부장(Microbiome: a New Way of Health), ㈜바이오미 윤상선 대표(Novel Approaches to Microbiome Therapeutics Set Forth by BioMe Inc., a New Academia-based Start-up)의 발표가 있었습니다.
네 번째 세션은 ‘Microbiome Therapeutics-The Industry Ⅲ’로 ㈜지놈앤컴퍼니 박경미 부사장(Development of Live Biotechnological Product as an Immuno-oncological Drug), ㈜쎌바이오텍 정유숙 과장(A Synthetic Probiotic for CRC Therapy and Gut Microbiota Modulation), ㈜고바이오랩 박성준 팀장(The Development Process for Human Microbiome-based Live Biotherapeutic Products)의 발표가 있었습니다.
